I'm excited to feature a piece from the new collection a week over the course of the next month or so. I'm going to do my best to include photos of other women wearing the pieces so you can see it on someone else besides me.
But, I also wanted to share why you see so much of me on the website and Instagram. As a small (tiny or minuscule is a better word, really) brand, I do everything. I design each style, attend trade shows and meet with suppliers to source fabric, meet with my pattern maker to develop styles and coordinate production, fulfill all orders, manage social media and the website, schedule and plan all photo shoots. I also model for all photo shoots because I serve as the brand's fit model and as such have a sample that can be photographed in advance of a product launch.
Sometimes this top gets overlooked. I get it. It's not as flashy as the double peplum. But, it's such a workhorse. Like a not so basic, basic. It looks good tucked in or left untucked thanks to the side-seam splits. And it's fitted without being too fitted (yet not boxy) thanks to the back yolk. The navy pinstripes function as a neutral and can be worn with just about anything. Pair it with your favorite work pants, denim, chinos, a pencil skirt, or shorts.
My love for peplum tops knows no bounds. I find that they are extremely flattering no matter your height or shape. I know, some people are quick to say that they can't wear peplum tops. They've even tried some and they didn't work. But, I'm here to tell you that a peplum top can work for you, you just haven't found the right one.
I'm back from an unintended blogging hiatus to share the floral sheath dress with you. It's currently available for pre-order (in both regular and tall sizes) and 15% off with code PREORDER15; you can shop it here. The dress is the same silhouette and shares the same fit as the sheath dress in textured stripe, with some minor updates based on customer feedback. And, yes, it has pockets!
The temperatures have warmed up a bit in DC which has me thinking about transitioning my wardrobe for spring. I know, I know. It's a little early to be thinking about that; it's only January. But, I can't help myself!
I've wanted a fixed or faux wrap dress for years. YEARS. But, I was never able to find that fit my long torso and was work appropriate. Also, for some unknown reason, most wrap dresses are offered in a thin jersey material.
I can't believe Labor Day is almost here to usher in the unofficial end to summer. I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to give up on summer!
I grew up in North Carolina where tradition dictated that you didn't wear white pants before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. I strictly adhered to that rule for years until one day I decided it made no sense.
I wear this dress ALL the time. I've worn it to the office (see it styled for work here), with white sneakers to walk the dog or run errands around the city, and I regularly wear it on weeknights and on the weekend out to dinner or to grab drinks with friends. Can you blame me? The print is a unique, textured take on the classic stripe and it has pockets!
