Inspiration Behind The V-Neck Top

Inspiration Behind The V-Neck Top

Sometimes this top gets overlooked. I get it. It's not as flashy as the double peplum. But, it's such a workhorse. Like a not so basic, basic. It looks good tucked in or left untucked thanks to the side-seam splits. And it's fitted without being too fitted (yet not boxy) thanks to the back yolk. The navy pinstripes function as a neutral and can be worn with just about anything. Pair it with your favorite work pants, denim, chinos, a pencil skirt, or shorts.

Inspiration Behind The Double Peplum Top

My love for peplum tops knows no bounds. I find that they are extremely flattering no matter your height or shape. I know, some people are quick to say that they can't wear peplum tops. They've even tried some and they didn't work. But, I'm here to tell you that a peplum top can work for you, you just haven't found the right one.

Why Shorts?

Why Shorts?

I'm a dress girl, as you probably noticed. Three out of the first six pieces I designed and released for ME were dresses (and more were developed, I just haven't been able to produce them). But, since moving to DC, I realized the need for a good pair of shorts. But, shorts are hard to find. Especially if a basic pair of chinos or jean shorts aren't your thing. Which, in my case, they aren't. So, I spent a year buying and trying shorts, reading reviews, and talking to friends to figure out what worked and what didn't.

And, yes, it has pockets!

Casual Valentine's Day Outfit

Casual Valentine's Day Outfit

I can't say that Valentine's Day is a big deal in our household, but we do take the opportunity to do a little something special. Usually I give my husband a card and he picks up my favorite sweet treat or flowers.

Striped Shift Dress Styled Casually

Striped Shift Dress Styled Casually

The temperatures have warmed up a bit in DC which has me thinking about transitioning my wardrobe for spring. I know, I know. It's a little early to be thinking about that; it's only January. But, I can't help myself!

Fixed Wrap Top Styled Casually

Fixed Wrap Top Styled Casually

I've wanted a fixed or faux wrap dress for years. YEARS. But, I was never able to find that fit my long torso and was work appropriate. Also, for some unknown reason, most wrap dresses are offered in a thin jersey material.

Textured Sheath Dress Styled for Fall

Textured Sheath Dress Styled for Fall

When I designed this dress and selected the fabric, I fully intended it to be a summer wardrobe stable. But when I received the sample in February, I had to wear it to provide feedback to my pattern maker (I wear and wash all items to test for comfort, style, and durability). So, I paired it with tights and a cardigan and it quickly made its way into my weekly outfit rotation. It's proven to be an all-season dress; see how I styled it for the office here and casually for the summer here.

Pink Blazer Styled for Fall

Pink Blazer Styled for Fall

Fall is officially here! Even my summer loving heart realizes that it's time to start prepping my fall and winter wardrobe. So, today I've styled the pink wrap blazer casually for fall (you can see it styled for the office here).

White After Labor Day

White After Labor Day

I can't believe Labor Day is almost here to usher in the unofficial end to summer. I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to give up on summer!

I grew up in North Carolina where tradition dictated that you didn't wear white pants before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. I strictly adhered to that rule for years until one day I decided it made no sense.

I wear this dress ALL the time. I've worn it to the office (see it styled for work here), with white sneakers to walk the dog or run errands around the city, and I regularly wear it on weeknights and on the weekend out to dinner or to grab drinks with friends. Can you blame me? The print is a unique, textured take on the classic stripe and it has pockets!
